  If the base layer pants have hook-and-loop tabs on the thighs, fold up the protective fabric cover over the fastening area and press the top edge of the hockey sock against the hook-and-loop tab. This keeps the socks stretched over the shin guards without separate sock holders or tape. If the pants don't have hook-and-loop tabs, use separate sock holders instead.
