How big should a child's skate be?
Children who walk naturally need to be able to skate. We recommend that children's skates should have a maximum of 1.5 cm of free space. This is to facilitate the learning of skating. Buy a cheap skate in the right size rather than a more expensive one to practice in.
Is sharpening important even on children's skates
Yes, sharpening is important even for those who are just learning to skate. For children or beginners, it is recommended that the rail has a flatter profile (surface area) than for those just learning to skate. This is because a flatter profile (ice surface) gives you more support on the ice and better balance. If your child is given the right conditions to learn how to skate, they are sure to find it more fun. In our shops in Karlstad and Copenhagen we will of course help you with sharpening.
